Hello! For your setup with an i7 4770, GTX 970, and 16GB DDR3, you’ll want a motherboard that supports those specs. Asus offers good options like the Z690 or B660 series, which are compatible and widely available in your area. Make sure to check compatibility with your current components before choosing.

What's your spending range? I'm focusing on the latest generation CPUs, as most older models still offer good value.

Upgrading an outdated 8-year-old motherboard is essentially wasted effort—you won’t gain any significant advantages.

Your CPU isn't unlocked, and unless you're aiming to boost memory performance, it's probably best not to upgrade the motherboard. The main benefits from a motherboard upgrade are limited to overclocking (Z87/97), additional data ports, and maybe an M.2 slot. I also have a Haswell system, and my only motivation for upgrading is to prevent more boot problems and reach a RAM speed of 2800MHz just for the fun of it.
