Can the GTX 1650 (ASUS TUF) fit in the PCIe 4.0 slot of a B550 AORUS ELITE AX V2 motherboard? I'm asking since I'm unsure, especially because the GPU uses PCIe 3.0 and the motherboard only has a PCIe 4.0 lane.

You can connect it to that PCIe port, but it won't work on PCIe 4.

High-end cards are only beginning to fill a PCIe 3.0 x16 port in recent years. The 1650 model is far from capable of utilizing 4.0.

It wouldn't deliver a 4.0 result from a 3.0 device, since the implication suggests it's unlikely to achieve that level.

His inquiry was whether a 1650, a 3.0 card, could fit into the 4.0 slot. The response is affirmative, and the 4.0 performance isn't pertinent to his case. It's unnecessary to overwhelm newcomers with information that doesn't address their main issues.

... is an overly general statement that could use caveats over what is & isn't backwards & forwards compatible. I feel any overthinking is justified in a situation where any given user of the site is not as 100% knowledgeable as ourselves. In this case, why else would OP be asking?
