Which laptop should I purchase from these two options?
Which laptop should I purchase from these two options?
So I have two choices for purchasing a laptop.
Option 1:
Dell Precision 5510
i7 6th gen (6820hq)
16gb ram
512 ssd
4k display
Option 2:
Asus
AMD Ryzen 3500u
8gb ram
256gb ssd
1080p display
Now I’m not sure which GPU Dell offers—either Quadro 1000M or GTX 960m according to Google—which is better than Vega 8.
I’m planning to play some light games like Valorant and others, so I need to decide between Dell and AMD. Dell looks attractive because of the more RAM, storage, and especially the 4k display. However, if it has a Quadro GPU, it’s quite weak compared to Vega 8, and I won’t be able to run Windows 11 on it, unlike Asus.
This looks promising, you might want to reduce the resolution slightly. Also, note that this model is a Quadro M1000M with 512 shaders instead of the 640 found in the GTX 950M. It should run at lower performance than the 950M due to fewer physical shader cores and the driver isn't optimized for gaming, which could cause a slight slowdown. If it's a used unit, be sure to clean the heatsinks/fins before use. 😊
This option is also suitable, but confirm it supports upgrading to 16 gigabytes (two 8GB modules, not soldered). However, the Vega 8 platform isn't compatible.

This version is also fine, but confirm it supports upgrading to 16 gigabytes (two 8 GB modules, not soldered). The Vega 8 doesn’t perform much better compared to my friend’s setup—she upgraded to two 8 GB DDR4 3200 MHz sticks and it handles Valorant and CS:GO quite well (Zen+ CPU + Vega 8).
