Which CPU motherboard combos

I’m considering a new build and thinking about CPU and motherboard pairings. For gaming, I mostly use it, but I might look into streaming. My setup includes a Core i5 10400F (RM649) and a Ryzen 5 3600 (RM789) with a B450 board. Since I’m not upgrading, is the 10400F better for its slightly better single-thread performance? If so, which motherboard should I match it with?

I’d skip the H and B series boards and avoid locked Intel chips. I’d go for the 3600 combo. For that model, the B450 Pro 4, A Pro Max (non-M), Pro VDH Max, Mortar Max, Tomahawk Max, and B550 Pro VDH are all solid budget picks.

I’m not really into hype, but why choose the 10400f? It’s a bit quicker and costs about 100 less (just a whisper).

It's a locked chip design, and H-series boards restrict RAM speed, which can slightly impact CPU performance. These are relatively minor issues.

Thanks for the suggestion. I’ll check the B550 Pro VDH, Tomahawk and Mortar prices in my country. Likely I’ll opt for the Pro4 at around 350.
