I'm deciding on a CPU and motherboard for my 4060 Ti graphics card. I'm not sure if AMD or Intel is better and which model to pick. This uncertainty affects my choice of motherboard as well. My budget for both components is around $500, but I'm open to spending more if it provides better value. The PC will mainly handle 1440p gaming and light video editing.

i don't know why you'd need that gpu, but the 7600x is what i picked because it won't cause a bottleneck with your 4060 ti. it's also significantly cheaper than the 12400f for the same budget, and since it's from amd, you'll get a lot more flexibility. for around $500, you might even find a motherboard with the x670 chipset, though it's not worth it unless you're planning to overclock.

The top CPU option for the 4060 Ti seems to be the R7 5800X3D, especially because it’s available for around $200. Recent AMD chips are outperforming Intel ones, though not dramatically. The i5 12600KF is also a solid alternative at a similar cost.
