You're considering a budget CPU around 250-260 euros for your RX 6700 XT and H610M S2H DDR4 setup. The i5-12600K is a strong option if you're looking for better performance and efficiency.

Without a VRM heat sink on that motherboard, I suggest opting for a more affordable CPU. The i5-12400 would be a better choice, or the 12400F. Even if neither of these is cheaper than the 12600K, it wouldn’t really matter much. Updating the BIOS could also lead you to consider a 13400.

It's basically just a 12,600k unit. Whether it's new or used depends on whether it saves some cash or the 13,500 is more valuable.

Alternatively, it might be seen as a more affordable, reduced TDP alternative. That's the core of my argument—I believe the added expense isn't justified for placing a superior CPU on this specific motherboard. If the community can't secure the 13400 at a lower price than the 12600K, then it loses meaning. Edited December 31, 2023 by Fasauceome

The 12600k especially the kf might sometimes cost less or be at least the same price, and it will usually be cheaper than the 13400 if you purchase it used.

Some users mentioned the VRMs aren't great, so consider a 12600kf and Z690 setup. Make sure to choose a solid CPU cooler such as the Thermalright PA120 from PCPartPicker. The motherboard and components total around €324.79, including shipping and taxes.

I don’t get it back. I just bought a new GPU and my old CPU isn’t great, so I’m looking for something better.
