Which Corsair model is better: RM 750x or TX850?
Which Corsair model is better: RM 750x or TX850?
I understand basic math in elementary school. The question is whether 750w is sufficient for a system with an ASUS Prime Z790-P Wi-Fi, 13700K, 32G SSD, 7200Mhz, RTX 5070, 3x M.2 drives, two SATA SSDs (and eventually a 12TB IronWolf), and around six RGB case fans.
I’m trying to mask this because the 750w is quite heavy. For some reason, I think it’s more durable and robust, and it’s fully modular which just relates to convenience.
I have no issue with cables at the bottom of my case if 850w seems necessary for the setup above. I stream in 4K as close to full settings as possible, so the case gets quite hot during a few hours daily.
Also, is it typical that the PSU fan doesn’t spin when not under heavy load? I know my CPU fan sometimes stops completely, and the VGA fans only run during gaming.
Thanks.
(I don’t have an RTX 5070 and it’s almost impossible to obtain, so I might have to settle for the same performance as an AMD version.)
The age of the units referenced in your thread title is unclear from the current context. If both units have been operational for some time, they likely provided power during their respective service periods.
I'm an ewaste collector and keep discovering items in my complex's recycling bins. The TX850 appears to have been used before I found it, and I've been using it for several years with a GTX 1060 6GB, RXT 3070 8700K, and more than a thousand hours of gaming. The RM750X seems untouched—no dust, no scratches, just turned on for testing. If I'd purchased it online or from a private seller, they’d likely have cleaned and dusted it before selling it, but why would someone do that when simply getting rid of something? It's surprising what people discard without even powering it up.
I chose the RM750x for its modular design.
Later, I'll test the 12700K to check if it supports 7200mhz RAM with a minor overclock.
I'll adjust my current configuration in the "signature" section afterward.
