Hello everyone, I'm trying to decide on a PC build and am unsure about the best CPU+motherboard combination. Should I go with the i7 9700KF and ASRock Z390 Pro 4, or the i5 10600K and ASRock Z490M Pro 4? I’m more focused on gaming performance, especially running 3-4 programs at once. The price difference between these options is around 10 euros or about 15 dollars. I also have a powerful RTX 2070 graphics card. Please let me know if this helps. Thanks in advance.
the 3600 might not be the top choice compared to those intel options, especially since they’re generally more affordable. Gaming performance can vary a lot depending on the specific model and settings, with some 10600kf chips outperforming it. As for the motherboard, as long as the socket and chipset match, compatibility should be fine.
It's more cost-effective when considering price per performance. You might also opt for a 3700X instead. AMD CPU+motherboard bundles tend to be less expensive than Intel ones. You can achieve savings below the B550 Tomahawk while still getting a solid motherboard such as the MSI B450 Tomahawk MAX. The motherboard matters too—poor quality boards restrict upgrade options and can affect performance and boost settings. Longevity is another concern; VRMs need cooling, and some boards lack heatsinks entirely.
In reality, you might be able to find a 3700X+ motherboard for the same cost as Intel bundles.
I verified it, but in my country the price is much higher—about 120 more than the 3600.
