Imagine storing a game with near perfect fidelity, then converting it to H264 for editing. The original file would likely use RGB, which preserves all data without loss. YUV24 is another color space that’s close to lossless and often used in video, but it trades some precision for efficiency. So YUV24 probably stores less information than RGB while still keeping most of the detail, making it a good balance between quality and compression.

I'm not sure if yuv24 is better than h264's max or not, however the difference between yuv24 and rgb is very hard to notice unless you have an epic monitor and a keen eye, so I wouldn't worry.
