Looking for an easy-to-use website builder that lets you make small changes, upload images and documents yourself. I’m interested in options like Squarespace, Weebly, Wix, Shopify, etc., to enhance my business appearance and showcase my work.

The risk lies in the fact that a mistake or error could result in higher costs for your developer to repair the website damage.
How often should you make minor adjustments and update the site?
I recommend collaborating with your existing developer. Allow them to guide you in mastering a few essential tasks.
It’s quite probable you can isolate the process, restricting changes so any errors on your side would have limited consequences and/or be simple to fix yourself.
Allowing you to perform certain actions might incur additional charges from your developer for maintenance services.
I’m not sure exactly how much this would cost, but it’s unclear.
Still, maintaining a website tends to be more about administration than development in some aspects.
Your developer could earn more by creating new sites for others rather than handling "small updates and uploading files."
Yet again, that might just be the simpler side where they achieve better returns on investment in time and effort.
Eventually, you’ll need that developer again for a full website redesign or overall refresh.
There are countless static websites out there that haven’t been updated in terms of look, accuracy, and functionality—especially among small businesses, which often aren’t very attractive.
Another consideration is potential conflicts if you’re using other tools or platforms.
Typically, individuals who run their own businesses prefer to handle things themselves.
This isn’t a problem with your idea, and I’m generally someone who prefers DIY solutions.
Just remind yourself to consider the bigger picture and the trade-offs involved.
In conclusion, I’ll leave it to those who actually manage hosted websites for tailored advice on specific hosting options.

When dealing with payments, collaborate with the person to determine the most suitable platform.
What seems simplest for you might not always be the optimal choice.

I am paying him to design and deploy the site; I want it to look good. But after that I need to be able to upload pictures and documents myself without having to call him every time. From what I understand, Squarespace and other similar hosting platforms will be the best choice. I just need a basic site to make it look more professional and showcase my work.

All the content management systems you referred to perform well in their respective areas. If you're an e-commerce company, Shopify is a solid option. You might also consider woocomerce, a WordPress plugin suitable for e-commerce needs. Numerous businesses operate using these platforms.

Are there any do-it-yourself options that work with WordPress? The person managing the website is familiar with Wordpress.
