I want to know if anyone has tried both games at the same time and noticed the differences. I have been playing FH4 on Xbox for a long time but am now moving into FH5 on PC because I no longer use consoles. However, as you might see too, the Xbox app on PC is really buggy and glitchy. It is also very unstable. Even when online, many people reported serious issues like failing to install or failing to launch my game.

I myself hit some weird crashes too, which I thought was because of so many bugs in the app. Here are my specific problems:
1. When launching the game, the intro screen before you get into options is really pixelated. It looks like it only runs at 720p resolution, but that's fine since it's just the opening phase. I wonder if anyone else experiences this on the Xbox app for PC? Is the experience different when coming from Steam or launching directly from there? I expect Steam to be much smoother than this.
2. If I open Adrenaline before launching to check my hardware, the game never loads. My FPS reads as 1600+ fps in the overlay, but if I try to launch or quit from there, it gets stuck on the loading screen forever. I avoid opening Adrenaline until inside the game, where the FPS often shows 'NA' or zero, even though there is an on-screen option for that.
Knowing this, I am a bit worried because the Xbox app seems really bad. Should I just buy FH5 from Steam instead?
My experience with the other games shows more stability: I played MotoGP on the PC version without issues for 22 hours straight, and Flight Simulator had no problems for three weeks (except once stuck at loading). With FH5 on the Xbox app, I always have to find out what's wrong. For example, before launching into a new game, my controller "Right Button" doesn't work outside of the game but works inside. Also, if I check settings while starting up, sometimes my monitor is read as 90Hz or 120Hz instead of the 144Hz it claims to be. Inside the game itself, everything functions normally except for Adrenaline messing things up (the overlay).

Thanks for reading! I am pretty sure now that I should just get FH5 on Steam because there are too many problems with this Xbox app. It cost me around $120 a year in Australia alone.

If you buy from the Microsoft store, you can play it on a console without spending extra money. If you buy from Steam, you'll need Xbox Game Pass to play it on a console; neither version needs the Xbox app to run. You can even remove that app if it makes things worse and the game will still work fine. I haven't had any problems with this setup using MSI Afterburner. Just go into your RTSS settings and set detection level to low.

Thanks for getting back to me! I edited my original post because I no longer play XBOX anymore. I already sold mine before the Series X came out, so now I use a PC instead. But lately, the xbox app for pc is acting weird. Basically, any game I installed won't run right away. Sometimes I have to restart both the windows and the whole xbox process in the background, or just the PC separately. This isn't the first time I've asked about this before. Honestly, I paid for these two months already, but if things break like this, it's going to lock up for years and ruin my life. So why bother with this app? Maybe better to get one on STEAM where everything seems okay. But I'm still waiting a few days to hear if the situation changes there too 😀 First, I will try uninstalling the XBOX app from here because honestly, it's just trash. It glitches way too much and feels heavy even on a new system. Now, you don't have the xbox app running in the background while playing games for pc? I am so noob that if I follow this step tomorrow, I'll see what happens lol Also, I don't use Afterburner anymore; I use Adrenaline because it has an overlay and never gives me problems except for Forza (when the overlay is on). I used Afterburner two or three months ago just to test things out. Now that I've tried that, I feel like Adrenaline is better than RivaTuner for now.

i do have gamepass, some games are installed, none of them needs xbox app running, with uninstalled xbox app games launches fine there is just xbox live auth service running, but this one doesnt launches games either, its just user login to xbox live, game can launch without it, you can get to main menu, but if this service isnt running (stopped/broken) then it will throw unknown error when entering world from main menu games can be downloaded from microsoft store directly, gamepass is shown there game itself launches through GamingServicesUI.exe which is micosoft store UWP app try repairing that app open powershell with admin rights and type this to uninstall it: get-appxpackage Microsoft.GamingServices | remove-AppxPackage –allusers then type this to reinstall that app from ms store start ms-windows-store://pdp/?productid=9MWPM2CQNLHN no reboot needed

Yeah, I'm pretty sure it's this app called Game Service UI or Xbox something that used to be broken and now works fine. I just did a repair by restarting and changing settings, and now when you mentioned it needed uninstalling or fixing the installation, you're right—I can see everyone online doing this at one point while playing Microsoft games from the 'Microsoft' app. That was my main reason for asking thanks man. I hate spending money on things that keep breaking down.
