I'm searching for a R9 5950X in the UK and haven't found any recent updates about it selling soon. The rest of my PC is set, but I'm worried about cost—my budget is only £1000 compared to a similar temporary CPU that would last a few weeks. I'm not keen on buying from scalpers, but I really need a PC right now since my current one isn't working. Are there any rumors about when new CPUs will be available?
They claim Zen 2 is completely unnecessary, but the real benefit is around 19% improvement. This mainly means smoother 1080p and sometimes 1440p gaming with a powerful GPU. For most users, especially those who are GPU-limited, there’s almost no noticeable difference between Zen 2 and Zen 3. The excitement around Zen 3 seems overblown. In short, get a Zen 2 now at a good price and use it. If you want better performance later, you’ll always have a way to upgrade to Zen 3 when it becomes more common and affordable.
I purchased the 5950x for £865 on eBay—roughly £100 above the regular price. It hinges on whether the convenience of early access matters more than the cost for me.
