Where to connect m.2 nvme?
i’m exploring this mobile here. generally, connecting your GPU and storage is important, especially storage since its performance isn’t always obvious. for the GPU, you usually plug it into the top PCIe lane, which is typically the fastest available and directly linked to the CPU. in this model, the top lane is a PCIe 4.0 x16 slot built into the CPU. this is the recommended connection point. however, there’s a note that this slot only supports GPUs or NVMe drives. based on the layout you shared, connecting your GPU to the red slot shouldn’t interfere with the green slot for an M.2 NVMe drive—your bandwidth should remain intact.
The manual features a chart on page 7, showing that M2B_CPU is connected via the PCI port. Therefore, select M2A_CPU for the SSD. Keep in mind this is the sole port compatible with PICE 5.
The initial M.2 and first PCI-E X16 slots have exclusive lanes for the CPU—they aren't shared. Later M.2 slots and 3rd generation are typically shared with the chipset or PCIe. Ports beneath the first one may be bandwidth restricted, or SATA ports could be turned off if both PCIe and M.2 are active simultaneously. The manual will clarify the specific situation.
I just noticed I entered the incorrect MB. It seems to be the same model, though. I was trying to attach the spec sheet for the X570 Aorus Elite, not the X670. The diagram I shared is actually for the X570.
