I’m not used to buying refurbished, but if someone has good advice, I might think about it. It’s surprising they’re no longer producing.

Welcome to the forums, newcomer! What region are you from? Why are you targeting the RTX 4070 Super specifically? Maybe you're searching for a comparable option. Nvidia is refining their manufacturing processes. This approach helps drive adoption of their latest tech by replacing older models. The absence of the 50 series FE in stores signals a shift toward the Super line, likely aiming to boost sales of Super SKUs or increase profits through higher margins. Feel free to choose your interpretation.

I’m based in North Carolina, USA, and I’m searching for a 4070 Super. I need a 600 W PSU that won’t be upgraded, as my current one is fixed and I want enough room. I also prefer staying with Nvidia because of my love for DLSS and frame generation.

I’m searching for a 4070 super since my proprietary 600 W PSU isn’t upgradable.
Rather than requesting the PSU’s specifics, it would be better to ask for your prebuilt’s make, model, and SKU.
I’m guessing it’s a prebuilt from HP or Dell.
If you haven’t replaced the PSU in your prebuilt, how long has it been running to estimate the PSU’s age?
Which card are you currently using?

It's actually an Asus G22CH, possibly a year old. I'm using an i7 13700 and my card is a 3060 with 12GB. Also, Asus keeps releasing my computer with a 4070 inside... it might work fine with a 5070 as well.

I don't see why you would need to
You might as well just get a RTX 5070 for $550-600, since it's essentially a 4070 Super, but a little better depending on if you like frame gen or not. Just be warned that Nvidia drivers have been pretty bad for most of the year. There is also a 5070 Super launching either this year or early'ish next year that has 18GB vram and a small bump in performance (possibly +10-15%, or 4070 ti performance), if you wanted to wait and get one of those instead.
What will actually be the determining factor is the maximum graphics card size that will fit and what is available in your budget range. You should be good with any dual fan 2 slot model though.
You will also probably need to use the included 2x8 pins PCIe adapter the card comes with, because it doesn't look like it has a 12vhpwr cable.

Thank you for the feedback. I have some mixed experiences with this desktop and the 50 series. One person said it functioned but was frustrating, while another mentioned returning their 50 series. I considered cleaning all drivers, removing the 30 series GPU, and installing a new 50 series one at a time to ensure smooth operation. However, I'm also concerned about the 5070 and the fact that my 600 watt PSU seems a bit risky.

In fact, you might be correct about it being a potential issue. I noticed individuals managed to run a 4070 Super without problems using the same setup, but the 4070 TI encountered difficulties. The 5070 features a base TDP of 250 watts, whereas the 4070 Super draws 220 watts and the TI 4070 even more at 285 watts. It seems likely it could fail or cause problems unless you reduce its clock speed or limit power by about 5-10% through commands or software such as MSI Afterburner. It might be just on the verge of excessive power consumption, especially with sudden spikes.

The only alternatives under 250 watts TDP, yet offering similar performance to the 4070 Super, are the RX 9070 or a refurbished 4070. All other options range from 250 to 300 watts or higher and likely won’t fit in the case.

The next best choices for Nvidia cards are the 5060 TI 16GB or the used 4070. For AMD, the 9060 XT 16GB is a close alternative. The RX 7700 XT provides similar or comparable performance.

The RTX 50 series isn’t particularly impressive unless you’re using a 5070 TI or 5090.
