I own an MSI GL 62M 7RDX laptop, and my computer stopped working. I don't know exactly what model number the motherboard has, but it looks like it has an i5 processor and a GTX 1050 graphics card. My friend owns an older MSI GE Series Apache laptop where the screen broke and he no longer uses it. He offered to let me take his motherboard if I wanted one. From what I can tell, the ports and screw holes line up nicely with mine, though I didn't measure them. Actually, both machines look almost exactly alike to me too. I don't know their specific model numbers either, but he has an i7 processor and a GTX 1060 card if that helps. Would it be okay for me to swap my broken motherboard for his one? I know it's better to buy a new laptop, but since I'd get the part free from him and I can fix it myself, it would save a lot of money compared to buying a brand-new replacement.

If everything matches up perfectly, just like one part for another, the connection is working and all systems go, so what's stopping us from moving forward?

It took a long time to get back (I forgot I had even posted this), but anyone who is curious or ends up in the same spot as me buying that "i7 GTX 1060" motherboard will find it working perfectly. I've been using it for over two years with no problems at all.
