Hello Friends
Regarding USB-C with Thunderbolt in laptops, most recent models usually come with two ports, while others have one. Based on my knowledge, Thunderbolt is mainly used for:
display
data transfer
docking
Please let me know if I am incorrect or if I missed something.
If a display connection would be replaced by HDMI, questions arise:
1. When would it be necessary to use two Thunderbolt connections simultaneously?
Should I buy a laptop with two Thunderbolts if I want to use them together?
2. Can a laptop run with two 4K monitors connected via their respective Thunderbolt ports at the same time?
That would mean three connections in total: one from the laptop, two from Thunderbolt.
3. If the laptop only has one Thunderbolt port, can I connect two monitors using one HDMI and one Thunderbolt?
That would be three connections as well: one from the laptop, one from HDMI, one from Thunderbolt.
Please think about these answers for questions 2 and 3, even for Linux users.
Also, does it make sense to purchase a laptop with just one Thunderbolt port and use it with a docking station that also supports Thunderbolt, while utilizing all available ports?
I found a docking station (not using Thunderbolt, but USB-C) with 15 ports, including two DisplayPorts and two HDMI ports. It seems to address some of these points.
Thanks for your understanding

The calculation shows how many individuals require three screens with their laptops (including the built-in one plus two additional). If you require 3 times as many screens, purchase a laptop capable of handling that number.

For:
IDE for Java development using multiple windows
1 or 2 terminals for monitoring
A web browser for human interaction (test the application)
And another monitor to allow an elderly person to watch videos on YouTube and Netflix while I work and take care of her

Edge cases.
For that older individual, a $200 laptop would be a more suitable choice.

In response to the question about the timing, it depends on when you require it.
