Hello everyone, I hope you're all doing fine today. I noticed my BIOS is nearly two years past its last update, and I'm using an Asus Prime x570-P with the 3001 version from December 2020. There are no problems with the PC, but I'm curious if updating it would be a good idea when it gets outdated. Let me know your thoughts!

BIOS isn't essential unless you're changing your CPU or memory. For instance, older systems only got quad-core support in certain BIOS versions, meaning you couldn't run them without the update. Now it's less common.

Consider updating your CPU if you encounter unusual problems or need a feature not available in the latest BIOS. Remember, this board doesn’t support CPU-less BIOS flashback, so ensure the BIOS is updated before upgrading the CPU.

My advice has always been NOT to update the BIOS unless you have a specific need for it. There's always a small chance that something might go wrong and in the worst case you might brick your motherboard.

They all agreed. If it works, leave it as is.

Identify the desired improvement or issue you suspect the new BIOS addresses. If no clear need exists, maintain the current status.
