I just noticed this and was surprised. Swapping RAM, GPU, or CPU means you’ll need to purchase Windows 10 (if you’re getting the free upgrade). The link points to screenshots of a chat with Microsoft support about this issue.

It's not particularly novel, though it would have been cool to hear exactly what they said or how they expressed it. Still, why mention a dead link? Bookmark it and share it later if you like. In any case, from what I understand, you can upgrade your hardware only during the free upgrade window—typically one year. That means you must buy the desired hardware within that time, or risk being stuck. (Or you might have to switch operating systems.) EDIT: It seems there are already several discussions about this, so it's probably best not to bring it up here.
