❗ My issue (solved):
While playing games I encountered a bothersome issue:
πŸ‘‰ Pressing a key (such as A for left movement) would cause the character to continue moving beyond what was intended, as if the key was pressed too firmly or dragged.
I suspected problems like a faulty keyboard, damaged USB ports, driver errors, or system glitches (since I’m using an ASUS setup).
⚠️ Things I tried:
- Three different keyboards, including the ASUS TUF Gaming K3 Gen 2
- Multiple USB ports connected
- Disabled all background applications using msconfig
- Closed Razer Cortex and other startup programs
- Performed all available updates (Windows, drivers, BIOS)
Nothing resolved the problem until I removed Razer Synapse 4.
➑️ The issue vanished immediately!
The keyboard functioned perfectly afterward.
πŸ” What was actually occurring:
Razer Synapse 4 installed a service named Razer HID, which connects to the HID input layer in Windows.
This means:
Even with an ASUS, Logitech, or non-Razer keyboard, Synapse attempts to intercept and process key presses.
This results in:
input lag, keys appearing unresponsive or slow
unusual movement during gameplay
conflicts with other RGB/control software (such as ASUS Armoury Crate, Corsair iCUE, Logitech G Hub, etc.)
βœ… Bonus: Mouse macros remained functional!
After uninstalling Synapse 4, the macro on my Razer mouse worked again,
indicating the mouse saved the macro to its internal memory.
So:
πŸ“Œ Final advice:
If you experience keyboard lag or odd input behavior and have Razer Synapse installed,
follow these steps:
- Completely uninstall Razer Synapse (especially version 4)
- Restart your PC
- Try playing the game again
β†’ If the issue disappears, it was definitely caused by Synapse.
🧼 Additional tips:
If you only need macros for your Razer mouse, set them within Synapse and then
close Synapse entirely from the system tray.
If you still want to use Synapse, opt for version 3 instead of 4 (it’s more stable).
If you don’t use Razer peripherals, simply avoid installing Synapse.
