The idea remains largely consistent though. Master still managed to control the slave drives because they shared the same cable, making it necessary to identify which one was the controller. This was mainly a familiar reference in computing terminology. I think most of our forum participants have likely never encountered an IDE drive before.

You're referring to a remote connection method, such as Google Chrome Remote Desktop. Distributed rendering is a different concept from simply using a remote desktop. It doesn't seem relevant to your current question.
