WHEA failure code BF4 detected on i7-4790K processor
I also have the Z97M-ITX/ac mini ITX for my node 304 setup. I configured all cores to 4.1 GHz on Intel XTU and the issue disappeared. On the CPU subforum, someone recommended adjusting the voltage to 1.25V and using a multiplier of 45X. It’s possible there’s an issue with the default settings for ASRock CPUs on the I7-4790K. I used i5-4690K and everything worked perfectly without any errors in BF4.
Thanks for sharing the details. It seems your CPU wasn't overclocked before, but now it's behaving differently. Running at 4.5GHz automatically from the ASRock board works without issues. Unfortunately, an error appeared today at 1.25V, though I've seen others using 1.225 and played for nearly three hours without problems. It might be related to the default voltage setting on your ASRock M-ITX board, which seems to handle I7 CPUs well but not I5. I'm hoping this time you'll get the right voltage settings.
You mentioned a slight overclock on your GPU. Have you attempted to run the game in stock settings? I recommend keeping your GPU at its default speed for testing. You shouldn't notice any slowdown because the game handles high-ultra performance well on my 760 at 100fps and 1080p. Your 970 should work fine at this resolution unless you're using a higher resolution or a monitor with a high refresh rate.
