I assembled this system using a few key components: a TUF GAMING X-870 Plus CPU, an AMD 9800 X3D GPU, and the AMD RX 9070 XT Nitro+. I plan to install a new Samsung 9100 PRO 1TB SSD with PCIe 5.0 x4 M.2 slot, aiming for read speeds up to 14,800MB/s. It’s designed for AI computing, gaming, and heavy workloads (MZ-VAP1T0B/AM). I’m unsure about the necessary heat sinks—some sources mention included ones on other boards, but I want to confirm. The new board supports AI OC mode; I need to understand how much heat it generates. A friend said their motherboard already has a heatsink, and they have a Samsung 9100 Pro with its own. Should I use the SSD heatsink, the motherboard’s, or both? Which is best? Also, how effective is AI OC mode with such a fast SSD? Is it safe to rely on it? Could this setup become overwhelming?
Avoid using gen5 NVME drives whenever possible. Spare a lot of money and opt for a solid Gen 4 solution.
Additionally, the latest X3D gaming mode caught my attention. Previously, I was using Intel and GeeForce; there’s a lot to explore.

It isn't a significant speed boost across most tasks. Random I/O only marginally improves over Gen4 SSDs, and few applications benefit from those quick sequential speeds. The extra price usually isn't justified—opt for a larger, slower SSD to hold more games.
The MSI X3D Gaming Mode boosts performance for AMD Ryzen processors, making it a notable benefit if the claims hold true.
It seems questionable since it might turn off SMT on the 9800X3D, possibly hurting performance in multi-threaded games. Many reviews also mention the 9950X3D doesn’t require CCD adjustments for solid gaming results, making MSI’s approach before the CPU launch even more suspect.
