I’m considering using a 5800X with this board and wondering if the standard 8-pin setup is sufficient or if a 12-pin connection would provide extra safety during high-draw situations. I’m not expecting a regular chip to require much more headroom, but I’d like to be confident about power delivery.

When you're unsure, it's better to skip it. An 8-pin EPS works well in about 99% of cases.
