Discussing real-world effects is straightforward. Propagation delay exists and it matters. In a vacuum, light would move about 100 nanoseconds over 30 meters. Signals slow down in copper, but even microseconds are dwarfed by the 1000x delay of network traffic. Does this really matter? I stopped checking beyond Cat 6 because it would be insufficient for 10 gigabits, and your needs don’t seem that high.

I assume fibre optic cables are inside the walls? I think it's not worth it, for my current situation. I also play on a PS4 until the 3000 Series comes out. Maybe a lil 3080 Ti, eh? I think I buy a 25 meter Ethernet cable and a overkill netgear router and call it a day. Thanks for your help, how do I give you a trophy?

you're welcome. no idea about trophy's. don't care much. Treat others as you wish to be treated, right?

It seems to be a quote attributed to Socrates. The idea suggests confidence in purchasing CAT 8.1 when uncertainty arises.

For a 10Gbit server you might consider Cat6a or fiber optics. If you aren't aiming for that, opting for Cat5e offers no real advantage over the cost. Fiber-optics are impressive but won’t provide value here either. Your simple use case doesn’t need it. For the most practical choice, Cat5e or 5.0GHz Wi-Fi will give you the best performance at a lower price and minimal latency. Yes, cables are usually installed in ceilings or walls, though Wi-Fi can work if you prefer wireless.
