What's happening with Total Commander?
I am having trouble updating my files. There is an Excel sheet on a memory stick, and when I try using Total Commander, it shows a red X for the hard drive version. Neither one is open or in use. Even though the attributes say there is no write protect, Total Commander doesn't tell me why this problem happens. My goal is to update these files, but some software was recommended to help with this. Sometimes everything works if I pick both files and they both turn red. UPDATE: I have made changes to four different Excel documents. The hard drive ones won't update at all; I have to skip over them entirely.
I never saw Total Commander again until now. I don't even look at it these days. I work with Excel every single year for 1000 hours and it runs fine without any trouble. Why would anyone actually need a program like that just to manage Excel files? Can you tell me exactly what you are trying to do, and why you want Total Commander instead of using the built-in tools in Windows?
I am busy working on many Word docs and spreadsheets. I did not want to deal with an old copy of the files so I need some syncing right now when putting data from my memory stick into my computer's hard drive. Is there any better software for this? Total Command is still around. My version 10 was in June 2021. I can't use Windows file manager to sync between a hard disk and a USB drive.
Could be something with file protection in windows. Like a permission problem, maybe? I use it all the time and have used it for years without ever hitting this error. Could you post a picture of when it goes wrong on your computer? Try running it as an administrator and see if the sync works better then. Also, if you email the contact at that website, they probably can help fix it.
I don't know their phone numbers and I can't get to their official command site. When it comes to file access, you just see an archive name that has dots hidden in it.
