What's going on with the internet stuff?
I already have this program set up to refresh those drivers shown in the picture at https://imgur.com/a/CsmdcCP. Look here: https://imgur.com/a/CsmdcCP
I was wrong about this new Windows 10 driver for my i225. Please make sure they don't change their numbering scheme, like going from 1gbit to 2.x.x.x on windows 11. It's much harder to find the problem now. Since your other computer works fine, it must be some software or setting on yours. It's just a wild guess. Try turning off IPv6 support in your network settings. Then check for any programs that speed up gaming traffic or cut latency down. A common name is CFOSpeed. This kind of software comes with the bloatware you get from motherboards or video cards. You could also try a program called IPERF. That would let you test both machines in your house. It's a simple tool that mostly checks just the network and drivers, without using much disk space or CPU/memory. You should see speeds over 900mbps going both ways. I guess you might try copying big files between those two computers to check if it is the browser causing the issue.
You told me another machine works fine, but that's not true because this problem keeps happening no matter what computer I use. There is no unnecessary software on them. Even when I check tools like resource monitor in the network tab, there are no slow-running programs. I tried switching to a new version of Chrome instead of Firefox and that didn't help either. Should I just delete everything and reset my operating system?
I think I read that wrong. I thought you said you have fast speeds on a laptop with the same ethernet and usb cable. But remember, if it's not USB3 plugged into a USB3 port, you won't get gigabit speeds. So if many computers are having trouble, most of my testing was done in the wrong area. Still, if you want to fully test the machine instead of reinstalling windows, just download a Linux USB boot image from somewhere. These come with some version of chrome already installed and you can run speedtest. You are running completely from the USB stick so it does not affect your windows install. Something being slow is much harder to fix than losing data. I would try standard network tests first. Run tracert to 8.8.8.8. It probably won't show any problem, but the goal is to see if you hit routers in the path. You would then open two command windows and leave a constant ping that goes hop one (your router's IP address) and hop two (the first ISP router). Generally, you are looking for loss of connection that only happens at hop two, not hop one. This means there is nothing wrong with your equipment but maybe something is wrong with the connection between your house and the first ISP node. If both these things seem fine then it's a much harder issue. Slow can be many different things from slow servers to network overload caused by other customers on the same internet service provider.
