What’s causing the decrease in velocity?
Here’s another thought…
I'm currently installing a video game through the Xbox Game Pass application on one of my computers, and it’s downloading at 26 megabytes per second. Simultaneously, I'm also getting a game from the Xbox Game Pass app downloaded on another computer, but it’s only downloading at 2.6 megabytes per second.
The first computer is connected directly to the network, while the other one uses Wi-Fi (AC). I realize that Wi-Fi connections tend to have their speeds reduced by roughly half. When I perform a speed test on the Wi-Fi device, it shows 45 megabytes per second download and 10 megabytes per second upload. My overall internet speeds with Spectrum are approximately 600 megabytes download and 20+ megabytes upload. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you.
Certainly. I believe there’s a significant disparity in download rates. While the Xbox servers might be contributing to this slowdown, it’s still unusual that one connection reached 30 Mbps over Wi-Fi, whereas the wired connection consistently achieved speeds between 2.6 and 3.0 Mbps.
Well, I understand now—you're examining the differences between Ethernet and Wi-Fi. Could you tell me what model of Wi-Fi router you're using, and the model of the Wi-Fi adapter on the other computer? Also, what’s the distance separating them?
