I discovered an i7 12700H laptop with solid specifications for around £800. I almost decided to buy it, but after some more research, realized the Ryzen 7 with 680M IGP might be a superior option—if I manage to find one. Most laptops I’ve seen come with a separate GPU. I’m not looking for a gaming machine since I need something portable (under 1.5kg) and USB-C capable, as gaming laptops usually don’t support that.

If the 12700H doesn’t offer better graphics performance compared to a 1260P or a 12th series i5, should I invest in something more affordable? Should I save up and opt for a cheaper alternative instead?

Advice and opinions are welcome.

While reading the page, I noticed several points that seem to clash with each other.
The overall impression is that the game is mainly intended for professional use, not casual gaming.
I play some office simulations and occasionally action games, but nothing that requires a lot of system power.
The titles I highlighted aren’t exactly light games and can strain your computer, especially with mods.
This is mostly for work purposes.
Sharing a list of apps would be very useful, and it would help clarify which ones suit your needs better.
You might also find it helpful to include links to the games you’re considering, so their prices or offers are clearer.

I was considering this purchase...
https://www.currys.co.uk/products/l...el...40515.html
For the games I’d likely play, I want proper titles that require a dedicated GPU. Checking reviews on IGP shows the 680M can handle 1080 at low settings, while the 660M and Iris XE perform similarly. I own a gaming PC and don’t often play games while traveling (which I rarely do).
The Ryzen 6800U costs £1000, which is typical for a gaming laptop. It doesn’t seem necessary here.
🤷🏻‍♂️
Work mainly uses MS Word and PowerPoint—simple tasks, nothing demanding.
