I just upgraded from a RTX 4090 and didn’t face any problems with the cable they used by the PC builders. I’m not sure which one it was, but I can look it up. Should I replace this because I might have damaged the connector? If yes, what should I purchase to keep the warranty valid with MSI?

Make and model of your PSU and its age. If you don’t have a standard 12V-2x6 connector from your PSU, you can use the adapter included with your RTX5090. It’s unclear what cable was used, but I can help identify it. Would you like to share photos of the cable? Should I consider replacing it because it might have been disturbed? Thumb rule: ask first before proceeding.

JTC recently shared a video indicating that his 12V-2X6 cable actually achieved better contact after several reinsertions, though each cable will behave differently. It might be worth replacing with a new cable if the old one caused problems, as the older design is clearly flawed. The 12VHPWR and 12V-2X6 connections are problematic, but using an older 12VHPWR could be preferable to a certified 12V-2X6. Check the connector end for pin receptacles that are deeper than others, which may lead to contact issues. Good luck!

PSU is a Corsair AX1600i, approximately 18 months old. Refer to the image below for the cable details.

The 12V-2X6 connector standard is brand new. It meets the ATX 3.1 requirements. If Corsair produces a 12V-2X6 cable to substitute your existing 12VHPWR, and Corsair confirms full compatibility with your AX 1600i, I would certainly think about purchasing it.
