What to consider when purchasing a new laptop
Hi everyone, my current Lenovo T440 has these specifications:
Core i5 4300U at 1.9 GHz.
Windows 10.
8 GB RAM.
500 GB SSD.
Recently it’s been running slow for certain tasks.
I’m looking for something affordable with more performance and a larger screen. I found two options:
One is the HP 17-cn2025nq with an Intel Core i5-1235U at 4.40 GHz, 17.3", Full HD, IPS, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD.
The other is the Acer Aspire 5 A515-48M with an AMD Ryzen 7 7730U at 4.5 GHz, 15.6", Full HD, IPS, 16GB DDR5 RAM, 512GB SSD.
I prefer the first one but think the second might be better for video quality (though I’m not sure).
My main tasks are WordPress, Word, and browsing a lot. I also do some programming in CSS, Python, and HTML, but mostly basic work.
Occasionally I edit Gopro videos with Filmora 12, but that’s slow on my current Lenovo.
I’m not sure how much worse Intel or AMD are compared to what I have on my desktop.
Since I already have a powerful PC, I don’t think I need another gamer notebook.
I'm likely to choose the HP model even though it means cutting back on some video content. I prefer a bigger screen and there aren't many 17.3 models available in my area, though they might be less well-made. I haven't seen any reviews for this HP laptop, can I add another SSD?
