I recently assembled a new PC with a master liquid 240 and an i5 8600k, not overclocked. I decided to push it further, setting the Vcore to 1350 and 4.5 ghz. Temperatures rose to a peak of 76 before I disabled the prime 85 to avoid damaging my new CPU. This leads me to wonder what temperature is too high. Also, any recommendations for OC settings for an OC that would be helpful would be appreciated. Thanks.

Rabyte283 shared their experience using a master liquid 240 i5 8600k processor. They set the core frequency to 1.350 and 4.5 ghz, with temperatures around 76°C. They noted the value of 95°C as a threshold for concern. The message also mentioned considering settings for OC adjustments.

Rabyte283 shared their experience with a master liquid 240 i5 8600k processor running at 1.350 and 4.5 ghz, maintaining a temperature of 76°C. They noted the value of 95°C as a threshold and asked what temperature is considered too high. They referenced settings for OC and mentioned that Prime95 versions beyond 26.6 have AVX enabled, which can lead to temperatures up to 20°C higher than expected due to increased TDP demands. They suggested disabling AVX in older Prime95 versions by modifying the local.txt file. They also emphasized that overclocking depends on individual processor characteristics and that finding optimal settings requires trial and error. The message concluded with a warm welcome.
