What steps should I take to improve my computer?
What steps should I take to improve my computer?
I currently have a R5 5600X, a 3070ti and an 850w PSU. For some time I've been looking for better performance but I'm unsure which upgrades to prioritize. I don't have the funds for a complete overhaul, yet I feel compelled to upgrade my AM5 setup. Right now, my main bottleneck is my CPU in most games, although I'm not sure if switching to a newer AM4 chip or replacing my components all at once would help. I'm considering moving to AM5 to ensure my system stays relevant for the future.
I play all my games at 2K and I personally prefer high FPS. Most titles give me between 90-120 FPS, but games that hit 60 FPS feel poor, while those reaching 240 FPS are great.
One of my friends is building his first PC and I offered to sell my motherboard, CPU, or RAM if he decides on it, since they'll only be playing low-intensity games and don't care about FPS.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
I own a Corsair H100i Elite AIO. Thanks to Corsair, there are several AIOs available in the H100i Elite lineup—what model do you have?
Power Supply: Corsair rx850
Age of the PSU?

Depending on your location, the simplest upgrade would be a 5700X3D paired with DDR4-3600MHz/DDR4-3600MT/s and low latency components to maximize performance. Keep in mind, you may want to weigh that cost against moving to AM5.
Sorry for the casual message, I rarely share updates this way :\, thanks for your notice!
My PSU is about three years old and the cooler is an iCUE H100i Elite Capellix, 240mm.
I’m using the iCUE 4000X ATX RGB in Oregon, US.
Although I’m thinking about upgrading to AM5 for better longevity, another factor is that my potential buyer is a close friend. Even though I can’t get all the parts, I’d like to secure a good deal on components and slightly boost my PC’s performance.
My current budget is around $700. If switching to AM5 seemed unnecessary, I’d probably just delay it until something better appears. I might be just justifying it because I really want those new parts!
