What steps can I take to resolve my RAM instability?
What steps can I take to resolve my RAM instability?
Hello
I have a DDR5 7200 2x16 RAM Corsair Cl34
Right now I use xmp 7200 speed and I start to notice memory leaks and games crashing to desktop suddenly.
I’m thinking about lowering the xmp profile speed to 6800 (system memory multiplier) without changing the voltage settings, and the timing might help stability.
I did a test on a meme86 earlier and got 3 errors at test 7
Here’s the info I have:
The 14700KF is designed for DDR5-5600, so assuming a speed of 7200MT/s could be excessive.

Integrated peripherals / components
Memory controller
Controllers available: 2
Memory channels per controller: 2
Total memory channels: 4
Supported memory types: DDR4-3200, DDR5-5600
If MemTest86 fails, lower the XMP speed in increments of 200MT/s until you achieve a clean test with no errors. Three errors in Test 7 suggest the RAM is being overclocked.
Another option is to begin at 6000MT/s and gradually increase by 200MT/s until errors appear, then decrease the memory clock rate by 200...
I have a DDR5 7200 2x16 ram kit from Corsair Cl34.
Do you have a link to the RAM package?
The best option for DDR5 RAM is DDR5-6000MHz with low latency.
I notice some memory issues and crashes to desktop.
A memory leak in the OS usually requires a full OS reinstall.
Could you clarify what kind of memory leak you're experiencing?
What is your motherboard model?
What is the BIOS version for that board?

Regarding the memery leak, I'm not sure—it's rumored that high speeds like 7200 can lead to game crashes and instability. I checked the memery test results; please let me know.

Should the system not pass MemTest86, lower the XMP speed in increments of 200MT/s until a clean test completes without errors. Three errors in Test 7 suggest the RAM is being overclocked.
Another approach is to begin at 6000MT/s and gradually increase by 200MT/s until errors appear, then decrease the memory clock by 200 and re-test.
