An over-optimistic teenager with a modest PC build seeks advice on upgrading his gaming experience, primarily focusing on achieving higher frame rates in the game Rainbow Six Siege. Currently running an overclocked 60Hz monitor, Intel i5 3470 processor, 8GB RAM, and GTX 770 graphics card, he’s achieving around 60-80fps average in Siege but desires a consistent 100+ fps experience. He's considering two options: purchasing a 144Hz monitor for $145-$150 or acquiring an RX 580 graphics card also priced between $135 and $150. His primary concern is maintaining visual quality in Siege, as his current 60Hz display significantly detracts from the game’s appearance. He's hesitant to overclock his existing monitor due to its age and potential instability but acknowledges the need for future upgrades. He’s specifically asking for recommendations within the $150 range on eBay and Newegg, prioritizing monitors that can deliver a true 144Hz experience and potentially justify the investment for long-term gaming performance.

This MSI MAG240VC = $190
has a FreeSync range of 48-144Hz and LFC. That will do nicely.
This Asus Strix RX570 4GB + 2 Free Games = $130
w/ promo code EMCTUUU29 is only about 15% slower than the RX580. Probably around 30-40% faster than your GTX770.

You should check your CPU and GPU usage showing it on display with MSI Afterburner before making a move. if the i5 seems relaxed then upgrading the graphics card should be enough to feed good FPS to the 144Hz monitor, but if it is stressed then a new graphics card won't give you much more FPS so it can be not worth it and neither the 144Hz monitor.
Don't worry, probably the i5 is good enough, I don't believe R6S to be a high CPU demanding game.

I do wonder if your 2GB VRAM is causing some issues.
