What should I do about this upgrade?
What should I do about this upgrade?
I currently use:
Ryzen3600x
16GB DDR4 3000mhz
Vega 56 Red Dragon
RMX 750 PSU
1.5TB between two SSD’s
The system still functions adequately, though it occasionally loses frames at 2042 in a battlefield scenario. Would you consider upgrading the CPU, GPU, or building a new rig? Thanks for your thoughts.
I play at 1080p resolution.
The vega 56 performs quite slowly at the moment. Upgrading to a 6750 XT, 6800, or 7700 XT would offer significant improvement without exceeding a reasonable budget. A 5800X3D would be the optimal CPU choice if those models aren't accessible. For RAM, a 2x16GB CL14-16 kit with 3600-3800 MHz would provide good density and speed. Could you confirm the exact motherboard model? Are you near a microcenter?
I’m close to a Microcenter. The current board is Asrock B450 fatality (Mitx). I want to maintain a low cost. If the 3600x remains feasible and a GPU upgrade makes sense, I’d favor that path over a full rebuild.
The micro center near you offers a power color RX 7600 fighter for $269. You're considering upgrading to 32GB RAM and buying dual channel 2x16 sticks for $50. You should think about whether the speed is important or if 3200mhz is enough.
You need CL 16 or lower, with speeds up to 3200mt/s or 3600mt/s RAM. The smaller the first number (CL) and the higher the speed, the better your CPU will work. Ideally, you'd like a CL16 with 3600mt/s RAM.
The RX 7600 would be roughly 40% quicker than the Vega 56 while running cooler and more efficiently, though that gain isn't massive for the price. A 7700 XT would be about twice as fast as the Vega 56 card, being more efficient and cooler. I strongly suggest opting for a 7700 XT or similar in terms of performance.
