What should I choose for my upcoming headset or headphone and microphone set?
Hello Everybody,
My current Hyperx Cloud 2s are getting pretty old and are slowly starting to fall apart so I was looking at a futur replacement.
I really liked them over the years and i could buy them again (63€) but maybe there is a better alternative now.
I want a new over ear Replacement I can use for Casual Gaming, YT watching and a bit of Music listening.
My Budget is around 80€ Maximum, i cant really go higher. If you are recomending a Headphone + Microphone combo i can go to 100€ combined. I can just get the Mic later.
I am already looking at a Sennheiser Game one (60€) or a SHP9600 (~62€) + a V-Moda Boompro (35€).
Which of these 2 options do you all think is better or do you have a completely different suggestion?
Thanks in advance!
Needs to be over the ears. I've always felt uneasy wearing glasses while using ear headphones, especially during long sessions. The other thing isn't that important to me.
Then these are a bit pricier than what you were aiming for, but if you can handle it, there won’t be any other wireless headphones available—let alone a wired one—that matches the sound quality and build feel you’re after. How would you describe your location? That really counts. A lot, actually. Or more specifically, if you were to place an order online, which stores would you prefer? I’ll share the model once I confirm it’s a viable choice for you. Just keep in mind, a Sennheiser option might be your better bet.
I reside in Germany and would like to order online. I don’t have any preferred stores, but ideally it shouldn’t be imported from abroad. Recently, I read about all the tax details for a Massdrop option and it really confused me—especially whether customs would allow it.
It seems Amazon Germany carries the cans I was considering, but they cost a bit more there compared to what I’m used to. Likely, the Sennheiser HD 450BT is out of reach due to price unless you can adjust your budget. The HD 350BT is only about nine euros more than your budget of 80, and it offers solid sound quality for that price. The key difference between the two is the active noise cancellation in the 450BT. Both models deliver excellent audio, and I’ve owned my HD 450BT for five to six years, using them daily—still in great condition. They don’t break down or wear out significantly, provided you take proper care.
The Audio Technica ATH-M30x could also be a viable choice, as it appears to perform well in most reviews and is slightly cheaper than the Sennheiser options.
If I pick a refurbished model from Senneheisers own Page, I could afford the HD 450BT at a budget price. The HD 350BT and ATH-30MX are decent choices, though. The microphone part is tricky— the V-Moda Boompro isn’t compatible with them. It doesn’t have to be top-notch, just something for Discord, and it shouldn’t cost too much. Ideally, I’d avoid a clip-on mic. Thanks again for your help so far! I wasn’t familiar with those Sennheiser options you mentioned, but they seem promising from what I saw. I’ll take a closer look.
my cloud ii stopped working properly for me too. i bought the new logitech 733s and am really impressed.
I have limited experience with gaming microphones. Microphones for YouTube and other videos are fine, but completely different from the ones used in headphones. I can't assist you with that.
If you manage to find refurbished cans from Sennheiser at a lower price, I'd struggle to suggest a better option since Sennheiser and Sony already lead in accurate sound reproduction with any headphones.
However, Audio Technica offers many solid products as well, which are usually more affordable. You won't achieve the same top quality or high-end sound, but you'll get something adequate for much less. Refurbished units from the original source also seem worthwhile, particularly if they come with a solid warranty.
They seem stylish but a bit over budget, unfortunately. If they become more affordable, I wouldn’t count on it.
The refurbished 450BT was priced at 79.99€, while the new 350BT costs 4€ less.
Warranty stands for 2 years.
The ATH-30x sits in the middle at 77.00€.
If I have to choose, I might consider a Modmic, depending on how much extra I can get from my BDay extension of funds.
I don’t want to seem like I’m ignoring your suggestions, but honestly, comparing these options to the SHP9600 is tricky. Picking one seems to be making costs go up even more.
