I've been considering whether to upgrade or construct a new gaming setup. My current configuration includes an i5 7400 and an i5 1050.

Upgrading a pre-built system will come with certain constraints. Performance may be limited by the CPU or graphics card. A more powerful processor is generally acceptable. Checking for CPU upgrades that Acer supports on your specific PC is recommended. If the power supply is adequate, graphics improvements are also feasible. However, builders typically only provide enough power to run the components you initially ordered. Ensure your PSU has a 6 or 6+2 PCIe auxiliary power lead for stronger graphics cards. Avoid purchasing a low-cost replacement PSU. Aim for a quality unit costing over $100 to ensure durability.

It relies on several factors:
your goals,
the strengths and weaknesses of your existing system,
and your budget constraints.

I’d like to enjoy games such as Warzone and Cold War with decent graphics. Since I have a 144hz monitor, running at 100fps would look great. I haven’t considered the budget yet because I’m still figuring out which components I need and their prices.

A fresh improved graphics card is available, ram has been upgraded to 16GB, possibly an SSD (if you haven't yet) and a PSU upgrade might be needed too. Your budget sets the limits, so choose accordingly. What amount can you afford?

Here are the details of my current setup:
500w bronze
I5 7400
Zotac 1050 2gb mini
8gb ddr4 1200MHz (probably what the CPU said)
My motherboard is Acer GX 781
And an Acer GX 781 prebuilt case
The budget is about 600 euros, which can be a bit higher.

And I've got a 1TB hard drive that's really slow.

Will my i5 7400 cause a bottleneck with that graphics card?
