You have roughly €300 to spend and need Wi-Fi coverage across two floors. Your setup involves a cable between them, so you’re looking for a router on the upper floor and one on the lower one. Based on your experience, 2.4GHz might be sufficient, though I doubt 5GHz will help much. You want dual-band capability and are not unfamiliar with basic networking concepts. It varies based on whether you intend to apply QoS as the Edge Router Lite, which reaches about 80Mbit.

These devices are built for professional use and should handle large numbers of clients without problems. I've tested it on an OpenWRT setup using a ToiletPaper Link, and it performs flawlessly even under heavy load.
