my pc configuration is
amd phenom x4 955 black edition
msi 970 gaming
deepcool assasin cooler.
here i just provided the details that are helpful for my question. i have two choices to buy ram now:
1. 2x kingston hyperxfury 8gb 1866 mhz
2. 2x g-skill ripjaws x 8gb 1600 mhz
both rams with cl10 timing.
i was a bit confused about the relationship between overclocking and ram timings and frequencies.
which ram should i choose for the best overclocking?
i saw in some forums that overclocking cpu increases ram overclocks, while in other places i saw that ram speed drops when overclocking.
please suggest which ram to buy and what happens during overclocking?
(i tried searching answers on the forum but couldn’t get them).

Either option will suffice. Boosting the performance of a black edition Phenom won't change memory speed unless you only tweak the CPU multiplier. Experimenting with the base clock and allowing a broad range of frequencies will simplify the overclocking process.
Typically, DDR3 1866 CL10 performs better than DDR3 1600 CL10, though this difference is usually unremarkable.

timeconsumer :
Either kit will function. Boosting a black edition Phenom won't change memory speed unless you tweak the CPU multiplier. Adjusting the base clock with a broad frequency range can simplify overclocking a bit.
Generally, DDR3 1866 CL10 performs better than DDR3 1600 CL10, though the difference is usually minor.
Thanks for your response. Could I increase the CPU overclocking by choosing Kingston RAM over the G-Skill RAM?
(I was already aware of the performance gap between these RAM sticks, but I wanted to understand how RAM speed impacts overclocking.)

The memory impact on CPU overclocking will be minimal. Some experienced users might benefit from using various memory speeds to adjust higher frequencies, though this is uncommon for regular users and typically results in only a slight improvement of around 1%.
