What processor are you running this on?
I was using a 10700k processor at 5.2ghz with an MSI Z490 board. After selling my setup, I bought an i5 10400 and kept the same Z490 for $240. Using the same GPU, I noticed almost no change in FPS across the games I play. Curious about what CPUs people typically choose at that performance level.
Typically you won't notice much variation between mid-range and high-end CPUs at higher resolutions. Reduced resolution changes the picture significantly.
I originally equipped the PC with a 1080p display, which pushed me to invest more in the CPU. Later, when I upgraded in resale, I noticed minimal impact from those changes. That’s why I traded in the i7 bundle for an i5 set and used the remaining funds for a fresh keyboard and mouse.
Higher detail increases the burden on the GPU compared to the CPU.
10900K paired with an MSI MEG Z490 ACE delivers impressive performance. The 10400 CPU really stands out and offers great stability for gaming.
I’m happy about the change. The extra cash paid for my gmmk keyboard and model O wireless mouse. I understand that going higher resolution means the CPU needs less power as long as it’s up-to-date. I’ve been checking reviews at UW and 4K, which is why I made the switch. I was curious about what CPUs others use with a UW monitor.
