What price does a GTX 1080 Gaming X overclocked cost?
Hello, so I'm wondering how much a GTX 1080 Gaming X Overclocked would cost. On Ebay I've found a pretty good deal where the card says it would cost $900, but is on sale for $530. It is a MSI one, and I know that there is a program for overclocking msi cards "MSI Afterburner", so would the price of it be reasonable considering that you possibly do the same thing with the MSI afterburner program?
In no universe had that card ever reached a value of $900. A Founders Edition GTX 1080 features Base Clock: 1607 Boost Clock: 1733 The MSI GTX 1080 Gaming X, according to this review: Base Clock: 1709 (an increase of 6.35%) Boost Clock: 1848 (an increase of 6.64%) Therefore, the seller attempting to match it against a $900 list price is quite misleading... making the $530 offer seem more reasonable. This could have been a suggested price in 2016... when the GTX 1080 was around $700 and the GTX 1080Ti hadn't been launched yet. Even then, $900 would have been considered too high for that model. Just compare it to other GTX 1080 cards from trusted manufacturers...
Honestly, I think you should consider in getting a 2070 instead of a 1080. The 2070 performs better than a 1080, but is slightly less slower than a 1080 Ti. There's an RTX 2070 going around for $499. It's also MSI as well.

EDIT: I forgot to mention that overclocking a factory-overclocked GPU vs a overclocked stock GPU won't make much difference at all performance-wise. For instance, most Pascal Cards (10 series) have a max overclock around 2100MHz or more on core. You can overclock a regular GTX 1080 to around 2100MHz and a factory-overclocked GTX 1080 at the same frequency, but it won't go any higher.

The gpu you listed, do you think it will go on sale on cyber monday or should I buy it now, also I looked up videos on GTX 1080 and RTX 2070, and there pretty similar right?, the RTX 2070 you listed is cheaper, but does have a tax added so it's about the same price so price vs price does the rtx 2070 beat a gtx 1080?
It's always tough to forecast. I'm also undecided about getting a mid-level card upgrade for my son. There are good offers ending tonight or this weekend, so I'm unsure whether to grab one now or wait for Cyber Monday.
