What power supply size do I require?
What power supply size do I require?
I'm setting up a system for a friend and wondering if the PSU they selected will suffice.
Here are the details:
13600k
Gigabyte Z790 Aorus Elite AX MB
64 GB TeamGroup Team Force Delta DDR5 6000 RAM (2 x 32gb)
ASUS TUF Gaming RTX 4070ti OC
Thermaltake ToughLiquid Ultra 280mm AIO
4 x 2TB NVME drives
He chose the Lian LI SP850 PSU (built into a 011 Mini case).
I believe he should aim for 1000 watts.
What are your thoughts?
Not a suitable power supply option.

Look for a shop offering a minimum 750w PSU... larger isn't better. Make sure it comes with a 7-year warranty. When you browse, check the reviews.
There are various O11 mini cases available. I prefer the O11 air mini. Some might need extra features and others may require ATX-sized power supplies. I appreciate the Lian li build quality.
Here are some details on sizing a PSU:

The price gap between 750W, 850W, and 1000W models isn’t significant. Over-sizing is acceptable since the PSU will only use the power it needs, no matter the maximum capacity. Running at the middle of the range offers the best efficiency. The 13600K model can handle stronger components even now and in the future. Therefore, consider purchasing a more robust unit.
First, assess whether your case requires SFX or if it can accommodate ATX power supplies. The main factor in choosing a PSU is its quality. While quality tiers are available, they’re subjective. My approach is to check the warranty: 7 years is good, 10-12 years even better.
For instance, a Seasonic vertex 850W unit with a 12-year warranty costs $214, whereas the 1000W version is $25 more:

Corsair RM models fall into the same quality range. Don’t be swayed by claims about 13600K performance, especially for gaming. It’s not a high-temperature chip.
An air cooler isn’t essential, particularly if a solid air cooler performs well. An AIO cooler is risky; it may fail eventually. If issues arise from air intakes or tubes, plan for at least five years of use.
Don’t fill all your M.2 slots with 2TB drives. Opt for one 2TB or 4TB drive and standard 2.5" SSDs for storage. You won’t notice a difference. These experts couldn’t:

Also, avoid the assumption that a 13600K is always ideal; it’s not particularly powerful for gaming.
The location of the case is being discussed. It's possible to use a standard size, and there isn't too much time left to return and find an alternative, particularly one with intake fans.
The O11 Air mini accommodates an ATX power supply up to 200mm in length:

Has the case already been purchased?
Is there a link to it?
It's the Snow White case, which only requires SFX. Regarding the components, it's not my build. He prefers to have separate drives for work and games (I'd personally use two 4TB drives and a 1TB boot/program drive). He also wants an AIO (not my preference).
