My previous setup ran on Windows 7 Pro and is quite outdated now. I'm curious about the current best options. Is Windows 10 the standard choice these days? Also, do I really need Pro mode to run smoothly with 32GB RAM? I remember needing Pro for more than 16GB when using 7, and now I'm wondering if 32GB is enough on 64-bit systems.

Unfortunately, 10 is becoming too popular for Windows these days.

the only choice left is windows 10 64bit. avoid the 32bit version. this system uses about 3GB of RAM. windows 7 will likely stop supporting itself in a few months. it’s an outdated operating system—don’t use it anymore unless you still have a retail copy of windows 7 Pro. you can install windows 10 Pro and activate it with that license. microsoft permits this.

Choose Windows 10 for your preference. Opt for popOS if you like Linux. Avoid PCs if you favor Mac.

I also have a retail copy of Windows 7 Pro. Installing Windows 10 Pro should be compatible with the key.

Discussing older 16-bit programs that don't work in a virtual machine. Windows 10 64-bit addressed this issue.
