Hello. You're considering what to upgrade next. Your current setup includes an 8-core 10th gen Intel Core i7 CPU cooler, a MSI BD460M Micro-ATX Mobo with 48GB DDR4 RAM at 2666Mhz. You mentioned you're not skilled enough for a full Mobo upgrade and have been modding for about two months. What would you like to improve?

Opt for SSD or M.2 storage options.

To the best of my understanding, SSDs don’t offer much room and my M.2 slots are already full. I’m trying to improve performance since I’m getting lower scores than I’d like on the timespy benchmark.

Think about a locked CPU after installing the stock cooler... honestly, that was a real letdown. I’d choose something reliable since Intel usually handles good compatibility with air coolers, so it shouldn’t be wasted. Regarding lower ratings, having a locked CPU on a poor board isn’t ideal—expensive boards would help but the effort doesn’t seem worth it for a locked CPU. It’s frustrating. Still, does your computer match your usage requirements? What GPU are you using?

I understand you're looking to upgrade your setup for better performance. I can help you find the right cooler if you share a photo of your current stock cooler.

I understand how these components appear; I've used an i7 6700 before and it was quite noisy. I think the newer chips only made things louder. I recommend upgrading to a top-tier cooler—better cooling means higher clock speeds and quieter performance. Right now, you're probably limited by heat, which restricts speed. Doing this should boost performance and provide a much smoother experience. A premium cooler would be ideal for any new build.

Taking a glance, but no suitable option comes to mind. Let's continue searching.
