Hi guys. I'm currently gaming on a 9600k, Z390 Aorus Pro, 16gb ddr4 3000mhz tridentz, gtx 1070 and 2 monitors: a ips 21:9 1080p 75Hz and a tn 1080p 144Hz, but playing a lot of aaa games and using the 21:9 screen 90% of the time. Here's the problem, I have some options to what to do: 1. Upgrade the gtx 1070, either to 2070 super or wait till next years 7nm (wanting this mainly for rdr2). 2. Upgrade 9600k to 9700k/9900k/3700x. Don't get me wrong, the 9600k is great and games are running without an issue but seeing on all the forums how I souldve went with 3600x/3700x and people saying its not gonna last long until my 9600k is going to bottleneck aaa games (againg, afraid for rdr2, huge fan of Rockstar games), I kinda feel bad for my purchase. My pc is used only for gaming, not doing anything else. So guys, what is your opinion?
It will take a while before your 9600k causes any GPU issues in games, so changing it isn't necessary. Your motherboard is excellent, memory is sufficient and quick. The GPU is decent too, but you might want a 2080 for better performance in games. Overall, you have everything needed for CPU, memory, GPU, and monitors. If you plan to invest in hardware now and enjoy smooth framerates, consider a good soundcard and possibly an amplifier with speakers. Most people prioritize video, but audio is equally important.
i would definitely try building a system for gaming right now, but the 9600k isn't a bad processor, so i'd stick with it. if anything, i'd upgrade the gpu to a 5700xt. it's a bit slower than a 2070 super, but over 100 bucks less (where i live) honestly? my 1070 is still a solid card. unless you really need it, i'd keep going with what i have as long as it works. i'm pretty sure it should handle rdr2 just fine, not at full speed. maybe wait until it's released and check how your card performs if you're okay with it now.
