What monitor should I purchase in 2021 that supports a 980ti processor?
Hello everyone,
I’m planning to purchase a new monitor in 2021 to achieve the optimal mix of performance and visual quality with my existing setup. Right now, I’m using an outdated FHD TV as a monitor since my old PC monitor stopped working. I’m evaluating options like 4K, 1440p or even FHD at a 27-inch size. I’m unsure which option is best. I’m not too focused on refresh rates because I’m not a high FPS gamer, but rather an avid movie lover. The term “colour spectrum” is crucial to me—I want distinct blacks, whites, and smooth transitions between shades (for example, ensuring shadows remain clear without losing detail). At the same time, I want a good resolution without significantly affecting my performance (I’m comfortable with 60fps).
Thanks for your advice!

Even without playing FPS titles, a 980ti processor would struggle with 4K gaming in 2021. 1440p could be the limit, and you might need to adjust some settings at 60Hz. Watch the video for more details: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s11U9eGRsFk&t=725s

Thank you for your response and the video recommendation. I’ll check if I can locate the Acer model suggested earlier, as bringing items into my country is difficult. I did discover a 4k IPS monitor locally, specifically the LG 27UL500. I think the graphics card would struggle with 4k, but since this monitor is nearby and the IPS panel could be downscaled to 1440p, would that still look good?
You're always able to modify your preferences and fine-tune them according to the game you're playing. Just keep in mind that achieving maximum visual impact isn't always your goal. Even at 1440p, some highly demanding titles may still require adjustments.
1440p often appears somewhat washed out on a 4K native screen, particularly when viewing text.
