I've been enjoying RuneScape since 2006, though it feels quite different now. I recently tried playing again and found the experience changed significantly. Are there other MMOs similar to RS or other quality games worth trying? Keep in mind I also played World of Warcraft before and didn’t enjoy it, but I’m open to giving it another shot.

I enjoy exploring the lore, character backstories, and world-building details of RuneScape.

Eve. Its not like RS at all. But its one of the best MMOs out there in my opinion. theres a 21 day free trial, if you want to try it out.

Rusty Hearts offers an entertaining experience with impressive music tracks. The battles focus on its powerful combat style, combining slash and hack mechanics with charming visuals. While it may not be the highest quality title, it has its own appeal and works well as a casual pastime. The game features an anime-inspired look and straightforward design, making it accessible and quick to start.

The capacity to master numerous abilities. I wouldn’t mind if the upcoming MMO introduced a class structure.

I've rarely encountered many MMOs with that kind of skill system. I believe much of it faded when everyone tried to mimic the WoW approach. It's disappointing, but it was a format that attracted a big audience. Eve Online is the only one that comes to mind these days. The training happens live, though. It becomes a solid game once you commit and pick a good guild. As @Tacitus mentioned, Jagex had the 2007 RS version again.

They launched it two years back and it's now available permanently as a free-to-play game, just like the regular RS since the 19th of this month!
