I've already looked for something similar in this post, but the advice didn't solve the problem. In Overwatch my GPU doesn't boost much—it stays around 1500MHz instead of reaching about 1900MHz. This makes it hard to maintain a stable frame rate of 144 or higher, which is really frustrating. Is there any way to make my GPU run at a faster clock speed while playing? I have a Ryzen R7 2700X, an RTX 2080, MSI B450 Gaming Plus, Corsair Vengeance DDR4 3200MHz, and an Intel 660p 2TB.

The board for the graphics card is from a specific brand. You haven't overclocked it yet, or are you currently running it at stock speeds? Your 2080ti experienced issues with boosting, but once you reached the maximum overclock, performance improved significantly.

It's an INNO3D 2080 Gaming OC X3. I attempted to overclock it to Core +75 and Memory +750 without changing the voltage, but it didn't improve performance.

Are you employing MSI Afterburner? If yes, set the voltage and temperature controls to their maximum. This card features a boost clock of 1800MHz as per the manual. Experiment with adjusting the overclock settings higher or lower to determine if you can extract more performance from it. Also, find out the highest MHz the card can achieve.

The issue would still remain though, the card just doesn't want to boost to 1915MHz (it's max stable boost). Even though it should.
From what I've noticed is that the card only wants to boost as high as it needs to for it to push out about 100-180 frames a second. So when nothing is going on it barely boosts for lots of fps, but when a lot is going on, the card has to boost a bit to compensate for the lack of frames its pushing out. I don't know why it just doesn't stay boosted the whole time while I'm playing.

It's typical for the core clock to drop when the GPU load reduces and the core clock adjusts. This occurs regularly while playing Fortnite, causing the core clock to reach idle. Does your core clock decrease only during gameplay or also during pauses like loading screens?

It occurs in games regularly. It wouldn't be so bad if my frame rate stayed above 144 consistently. Also, during sudden heavy demands, the FPS drops, then the processor speed jumps and FPS recovers, creating annoying lag spikes. This would be resolved if the card maintained a steady clock speed. Talking about it, I still don't have a clear solution.

GPU was mid-60s c, about 60% usage, mostly hovering near 1920MHz, dropping to around 1500, 1600, and 1700MHz. FPS stayed below 144 consistently, often falling to 100 or 120, or sometimes spiking higher. I already had maximum performance enabled. What should I do next?

I face the same problem with my Minecraft on my GTX 1080 Ti. Usually, boosting goes up to 1949 MHz or 2000 MHz when I overclock, but in Minecraft it never exceeds 1569 MHz. When testing with a GTX 1060 3GB, there’s no issue and the game runs about twice as fast compared to my GTX 1080 Ti, only in Minecraft. Shadow of the Tomb Raider on 1080P gives around 110 FPS with the GTX 1080 Ti, while it reaches maximum frequency on the GTX 1060 and drops to 45-50 FPS.
