this is what I believe is happening....
so when I don't have an HDMI plugged in, my laptop delivers very high frame rates on both low and high settings....when I connect a 75Hz monitor, I notice significant drops.
is there a method to reduce the framerate or "limit" it to match the external display?
maybe you might be curious about why I don't use my laptop screen—it's too small for my eyes.

Open windows settings, then select system, display, and click on advanced display settings. Ensure your monitor is chosen in the top section, then proceed to the refresh rate box and check if adjusting it to 75hz is possible.

The laptop model is not specified, but it runs a specific CPU and GPU configuration.
