Hello! I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask, but I have a rather unusual question.
Do you know how to retrieve an image from a .mbdb file that was saved with an image? There was a situation where my wife used Sketchbook on her Mac laptop while connected to a Huion drawing tablet. She saved her drawings as .mbdb files instead of the usual .tiff format in her default art folder. When she reached for support, they suggested it might be because her Mac got confused and linked the device to iTunes, saving the image as an iTunes backup. They recommended trying to extract it from the .mbdb file somehow.

The .mbdb file is about 650 MB, and I was able to open it on filext.com as an SQLite database. It contains filenames like brush_1.bru, which makes me think her drawing and brush strokes are stored there. I’m hoping there’s a way to recover her artwork from this file, but I haven’t found any app that can open or manipulate it on my Windows computer. Sketchbook obviously doesn’t support it, and tools like iPhoneBackup or similar didn’t help either. It seems her drawing might be lost forever, though I’m hoping someone has a solution.
Thanks!

Have you attempted dragging and dropping back into the sketch software?
Try identifying the file extension used by the sketch software for temporary files, rename it accordingly, and observe the outcome.
On Windows, a tool named filekeyesearch can extract files from existing files using their description (key). I’m unsure if it supports your sketch software, as it seems outdated, but adding new keys is straightforward since it’s text-based. However, you’d need to understand the specifics of the file type, which isn’t simple.

I've experienced success with file compression tools before, especially for extracting data from unusual formats.
